Harford Hockey Fest Rules & Regulations for Team Play
National Federation High School Association Rules will be used with the following exceptions:
- All players must be properly attired with shin guards and mouthpieces as well as goggles.
- No jewelry or metal or plastic hairpieces will be allowed.
- No player can compete for more than one team during the tournament.
- Each team should be prepared to provide a complete roster (provided on this web site) with all players at any time.
- It should be identical to the roster given to the tournament administrators at time of entering the tournament.
- Each game will run for a 25 minute period
- There will be no time outs during a game.
- There will be no overtime or tiebreaker in regular play.
- All forfeited games will be scored as a 3-1 victory for the team that shows for the game.
- If there is any difference in the interpretation of the rules the referee(s) decision will be final.
Rules for 3-4 Grade Tournament Play
- 3-4 Grades will play 7 vs. 7 with no goalie on a smaller field, will use a modified corner as established by the MYFHL and take free hits from outside the scoring area.
- Coaches may not be on the field during game play.
- Tie games in any playoff games will be decided with an overtime period.
The overtime rules will be as follows:
- There will be one 5 minute sudden victory overtime period
- The teams will play 5 vs. 5
- Substitution will be allowed
- There will be no timeouts
- If the score remains tied after the 5 minute period there will be a second sudden victory overtime period following the above guidelines but teams will play 3 v 3.
- If there is a still a tie, then the tournament will declare 2 winners.
Rules for 5-6 Grades and 7-8 Grades Tournament Play
- 5-6 Grades will play 11 vs. 11 with a goalie
- 7-9 Grades will play 11 vs. 11 with a goalie
- All coaches must stay between their own 50 and 25 yard lines
- Tie games in any playoff games will be decided with an overtime period
The overtime rules will be as follows:
- There will be one 5 minute sudden victory overtime
- The teams will play 7 vs. 7.
- Substitution will be allowed
- There will be no timeouts
- If the score remains tied after the 5 minute period, there will be a one on one between five players and the goalie
- A coin toss will determine which team will go first and then the players will alternate
- The goalie will begin at the goal line
- The offensive player can go anywhere on the 25 yard line
- The referee will blow the whistle to begin
- The offensive player may dribble on the whistle
- The play will last for 10 seconds
- The play is over after 10 seconds when the whistle is blown again to end the play
- A goal is scored when the offensive player scores a legal goal or the goalie commits a foul
- The play is over if the offensive player fouls
- If either player hits the ball over the end line the side line or outside of the striking circle – the play will be over even if time hasn’t elapse.
- All spectators and coaches must be outside the 25 yard line
- If the score remains tied the one on one sudden victory shoot out will continue until a winner is determined
